There’s a lot of talk today about whose side someone is on, and everybody is scurrying around, positioning themselves to be on what they believe to be the right side. But does it make a difference whose side America is on?
On April 12, 1861, after years of discord between the North and the South, the first shots of our Civil War were fired at the battle of Fort Sumpter, and each of our U.S. states and territories had to decide which of the two they would side with. It was truly a dark time in our nation’s history.
During that time, someone approached President Abe Lincoln and asked him the question, “President Lincoln, is God on your side?”
Lincoln came back with an answer some might not expect.
“Sir”, he said, “it matters not if God is on my side; the important question is, 'Am I on God’s side'?”
Whose side are you on? Think about it.
